The idea of being able to live abroad and still be able to rake in the dough is damn captivating. The issue usually comes down to “how”. How do you actually align all the pieces and make it happen? This is something I’m still figuring out. So…

I jumped at the opportunity to sit down with Brooke Ferguson of Business Backpacker while I was in Krabi, Thailand. In her consulting business she helps folks bring all the necessary pieces into alignment so that you can enjoy the location independent dream. As you can imagine, I was psyched to toss a few questions her way. Check out the video interview…

I am insanely jealous that you are there and I am not.

Very motivating discussion with Brooke. Thanks to both of you for sharing!

I'm looking forwarding to visiting Thailand again! Are you guys going to the #lip meetup in January?

Nice interview guys! You make a lot of sense, Brooke. I can relate to everything you say, especially the stuff about determining your ideal lifestyle is without waiting for that set x amount of dollars. For me I've known all along that I want to live on my own terms from anywhere and have taken the steps needed to get me to that point. Once you decide it's the life for you, the only thing that will get in your way is yourself. Sounds cheesy, but the internet is amazing and I still think it's early days with what people can accomplish online.

Nice blog Mark, I've only just discovered it. Keep at it and I look forward to reading more in the future!

@Jay – don't be jealous, come out here! The good part is that I'm not the only one that gets to live this way :0) Thanks for commenting and if you have any questions, be in touch.

@Ross Ya, I'll be here in January, not sure about the LIP meeting though. How long are you going to be here, any plans for Krabi?

@Kristi – yes, I really do think that the only thing that stops people is themselves. I've heard so many times “But I don't have any money…” and well… you have a car, you have stuff… if you sell it, its magic, money appears!! I didn't have a savings account and wasn't 'prepared' for this adventure, but here I am a year later, still alive and enjoying life. So I would just agree with you here and let the readers know, it is possible, and you more than likely Already Have the Resources. It is just making the decision and booking the flight.

@Jeff – Thanks, be in touch.

@Rob – Hi Rob, thanks for commenting. Welcome to the BB site. Just added you to facebook :0)

If anyone has any questions, I just posted an open forum last week, so type away! Cheers and thanks for the read, watch, and kind comments. And thanks, Mark, for putting this all together!!

Ross, some of us have been deemed “unofficial” LIPs. :) But, I do run a monthly Bangkok Tweetup, there's TEDx BKK on Feb 13, and I'm sure when a buncha the boys come out in Jan (Adam Baker, Sean Ogle, John Bardos, maybe Chris G and Corbett Barr??) we'll have some little get-together of our own. ;)
