good points, man. and i dig what you're doing at ideaeconomy.

one of the major probs is that folks hop right into university without having gone and and banged around life for a bit. education without a practical foundation on which to build leads to pretty shaky things. buddy of mine is getting a phd in molecular biology but he's just now realized he hates the field. and, he's still going through with it simply because of all the time and money he's invested. sounds like a recipe for lifelong happiness don't it?

you got it right when you said you can learn just as much (if not more) through real-world based self-education. frankly, there's no better education than getting out there, trying your hand at things, skinning your knees, and getting your nose-bloodied. pursue a passion and you'll learn a helluva lot more than a classroom book jockey.

Thanks for the link! I appreciate it.

In the past, I always wanted to get an MBA. However, after traveling and starting different businesses I began to question why?

I don't want to get a job so I don't need the credentials. I can definitely get all the knowledge on my own with a little self-discipline and effort. Also, with the time and money I would invest in the MBA, I could easily do much more real things like build a real business or travel the world.

I love the atmosphere of university and I would really enjoy studying again but I think there are better ways to make a difference in the world than going back to school.

If Seth Godin, offered another Alternative MBA, I would jump on that but the Knowmads program I mentioned also looks attractive. What better way to learn than to work on real business problems?
