Awooga! Awooga! Threat Level Orange. Report suspicious activity. You are their primary target. They hate you and want to kill you.
This is what we’ve been told by the feds and the media. Some folks toe the line and live their lives with a slight tinge of fear and paranoia… especially when looking abroad.
Which begs a curious question…
A friend of mine was surprised when I related this story where I ran into a fella in Thailand who, by weird chance, happens to know other friends of mine.
That experience led me to see the world as a much smaller, more interconnected place.
“It must have been nice to meet a friendly face,” she said.
Umm, yeah. Plenty of friendly faces out there.
Turns out she was under the impression that most foreigners hate us Americans. And those that aren’t rude to us want to kidnap and/or blow us up (which still is extremely rude).
So, the question I’m asking you is…
How safe or unsafe do you see the world beyond your borders?

I hear the stories, too, and honestly, it pisses me off to see human beings limit themselves with fear. It’s just an excuse to stay home.
Too many times in my life, people have said, “Don’t do that! You’ll get yourself killed!” They were wrong every time, whether that was going 170 on the back of a sportbike, climbing a waterfall somewhere, or hanging around the ‘wrong’ part of town. Been there, done that. I can’t live in fear, and I’m just a girl! lol
I just found this blog today, and I love it! Sirius, you’re sense of humor and unique perspective made my day! Thanks!
you so rock, hinky. folks do limit the expression of others … perhaps because it reminds them of their own self-imposed limitations. and challenging those limitations, of course, means admitting that you are scared … but that’s the fucking point. to freak yourself out once in a while and experience the full spectrum of life and emotion.
i’m still working up to the 170 on a bike… first time riding one i crashed doing about 5
